Current collaborative projects

2013- Landscape management and conservation planning based on the utilization of multi-stakeholder fora as a mechanism to engage local stakeholders in Aceh, Kalimantan, and Papua, Indonesia. Funded by the USAID Indonesian Forest and Climate Support.

2013- Coupled environmental and social responses to rapidly changing condition: globalization, nationalization and environmental change in Lombok and Papua, Indonesia. Collaboration with Yeon-Su Kim, Alan Lew, Ping Ng, and Richard Hoftstetter at Northern Arizona University.

2012- Design and planning for establishing the Trans-Pacific Conservation Leadership Initiation Practicum based on the core elements of conservation entrepreneurship. Collaboration with the Insect Resources Association in Taiwan.  

2012- Rapid plot monitoring design and implementation to inform forest structural, abiotic, and disturbance properties and to validate remote sensing-derived variables. Funded by the Kaibab National Forest. 

2011- The Paso del Istmo Conservation Corridor in southwestern Nicaragua: rebuilding landscape connectivity and ecosystem services for wildlife conservation and sustainable community development. Collaboration with Paso Pacífico.

2011- Cocaine, cattle, and tropical forest conservation: rates of land use change and the underlying and proximate drivers of deforestation in the Río Platano region in Honduras. Collaboration with Erik Nielsen and Spencer Plumb, Northern Arizona University.

2010- Integrated spatial models of non-native plant invasion, fire risk, and wildlife habitat to support conservation of military and adjacent lands in the arid Southwest. Led by Brett G. Dickson, Steven E. Sesnie, and Thomas D. Sisk, Northern Arizona University. Funded by the Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program, Department of Defense.

2010- A new time series remote sensing approach to mapping fine fuels in Sonoran Desert ecosystems. Led by Steven E. Sesnie, Northern Arizona University. Funded by the Joint Fire Science Program.
